We agree the date and time of the next meeting before we leave and we use accessible public venues in the Downend area.

The group is designed to be inclusive to people who do not read regularly and are at a loss as to what they should choose when they do decide to pick up a book (or listen to an audiobook).

Whereas other book groups meet and discuss a specific book, members of this group talk about a book or an author that they’ve enjoyed (no spoilers!) and explain why it appealed to them. This usually sparks an informal conversation inspired by the subject matter or author. For example, who knew that the 1984 Ultravox hit “Dancing with Tears in my Eyes” was directly inspired by Neville Shute’s “The Beach”?

A recommended reading list will be built over time.
