Important News for Beacon Users

You may have heard on this evening's news broadcasts that a number of critical bugs have been found in a language called php. This is integral to a very large number of websites, many of which have been shut down to prevent hackers using these critical bugs to gain access to data. 

Beacon uses php and, in line with guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre, Beacon has been taken offline as a precaution while the issue is resolved. Bug fixes for the version of php used by Beacon are not yet available and we do not know at this stage how long Beacon will unavailable. This means that group leaders are not at present able to contact group members via the Beacon system and it is not possible to join Bristol u3a online. Group leaders - while this problem continues please check the Group Leaders page for updates.

Everyone is welcome - learn something new while having fun and making friends.

Bristol u3a is for all older people who want to keep active in mind and body, enjoy socialising, and are either retired or no longer in full time employment.

It is run entirely by its members. There are now over 2000 of us so if you join us you'll find many opportunities to enjoy learning and to try new activities, while having fun in the company of new friends. The emphasis is on a desire to learn and a willingness to share your skills and abilities. All that is needed is enthusiasm, participation and mutual respect.

Bristol u3a has an entry in Treefest at St Mary Redcliffe which will take place this year from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th December. Would you be willing to make something to hang on our tree to represent one of the groups you are in?
