Post-War Britain: Our Shared History

Status:Active, open to new members
Leader:
When: Monthly on Tuesday mornings 10:30 am-12:00 pm
Last Tuesday of the month
Venue: Member's Home

This group will meet in Bishopston starting 30th September 2025.

Street parking is available nearby. The bus stop for the 505 and 13 (Phoenix Grove stop) is about 400m away on the flat. Access to the house is step-free and there is a downstairs toilet.

Group members will share personal experiences of living in the UK since the second world war, while putting them into their larger social and economic context. We will organise our discussions around a shared reading of Andrew Marr's 'A History of Modern Britain' (2017 Edition).

This is a new group so we can collaborate in establishing an agreed format and way of working. Regular attendance will assist in achieving this. The aim is to encourage an enjoyable and respectful collaboration. The group may agree to look at some topics in more detail (e.g. standard of living, feminism, popular culture, technology, travel), but we will aim always to return to our personal experiences.
